New Downtown Solar Array Powers Innovation Campus in Yreka

Callahan Solar designed and installed the new solar array and back up battery system powering the innovation campus.

The Siskiyou Economic Development Council (SEDC) applied for a Blue Sky solar award with Pacific Power, to bring a solar array to downtown Yreka. The array and back up battery system is a central feature of the new business innovation campus, opening in November 2025. The energy star campus includes Energy Star appliances, upgraded lighting, and environmental remediation— transforming the new campus into a model for climate resilience and sustainability. The project is also expected to qualify for Pacific Power’s Wattsmart incentive.

Callahan Solar designed and installed the new solar array and back up battery system powering the innovation campus. The array was funded by Pacific Power’s Blue Sky program. In operation for over 25 years, the program allows customers to voluntarily support renewable energy and helps fund community-scale projects across the West. Notable project examples include the Butte Valley Community Center, the Siskiyou County YMCA, and now the Siskiyou Business Innovation Campus solar array, all made possible through Blue Sky funding.

When the campus is open, the solar array will serve as an educational exhibit for energy resiliency and cost savings. The array was connected on June 30th, marking a significant milestone to return the 400 block of Yreka’s historic Miner Street to a hub for downtown activity.
